The Tunnel in Class 3

Yesterday, Class 3 listened to The Tunnel, a story written and illustrated by Anthony Browne. It is a story about two siblings who were complete opposites and constantly argued. One day they discovered the tunnel. The brother went through it, ignoring his sister’s fears. When he didn’t return, his sister was faced with a huge dilemma. Should she go through the tunnel and look for her brother or should she stay?

During our English session today, the children thought about the sister’s dilemma and what the consequences might be for each choice she was faced with.

To explore this further, they played conscious alley where they formed two lines facing each other. As the sister walked down the alley, one side gave reasons why she should stay and not go through the tunnel and the other side gave reasons why she should go through the tunnel and look for her brother. At the end of the alley, the sister had to choose whether she should stay or go

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about consequences for the different choices when the sister was faced with a dilemma.

Well done Class 3!
