The very greedy bee 23.02

Hello everyone. I hope you’ve had a great day of learning today – seeing some lovely pieces coming in already!

Dictionary skills: Linking with our greedy bee story, can you look up these words linked to a honeybee. Some you may need for some other parts of you learning this week…

antenna, thorax, swarm, insect, nectar, abdomen, pollen, forage, exoskeleton.

DT/Science: Identify and compare the suitability of a variety of everyday materials. During the story the bee gets stuck trying to cross the river. Can you find or make something the bee could use to travel across the river and back to his hive? What sort of material could it be? Will it be strong enough to carry the bee? Is it waterproof?

You can test out what you find/make in the sink or bath and see if it works! Finally, write a sentence to describe what happens when you test it out, why does it work or not work? Think about comparing them too for example my paper bridge did/did not work because…however my bridge made out of straws…etc.

ICT: coding. The next few weeks we will be looking at how to code. Learning to code is like learning a new language, so children are best to start learning it whilst they are young! Learning to code will help children not only play inline games but eventually be able to make one and envision one too.

Adults – here is a tutorial video to explain how to code with blocks. If you need any support with this, please let me or Mr Fox know. There will be additional coding activities available on the blog this week.

This is how the first code will look like, look at it as a step per block for an instruction.

Have a brilliant day of learning all!
