Update – Class 2

Afternoon all,

The term is going well and we are in full swing with our topic, Guess who?

We have been doing lots of skills in Maths (place value and addition), working on our writing skills (whether that’s actually writing or building up our muscles with finger gym!) and lots of Phonics!

To help us with our reading, we have been using various resources and activities during our learning. There are new Phonic comics on Phonics Play – these are great for recognising those phonic sounds (in their phases) and allowing us to practise independent reading in a small group or by ourselves.

Reading books: Reading books are a great source of learning to monitor our reading skills but please remember it is not the only way. We read everyday (numerous times a day) but we may not have read their home book.

Changing books: we change their books every Monday, Wednesday and Friday but have been changing them more often if they have needed it. If the children’s books need to be changed, they should be putting their folder into the box – this is an independent task. We are promoting this type of learning and expect the children to take this responsibility on board. We obviously do give reminders but independence will is a massive focus here in Class 2.

Google Classroom: Later on this week, the children will be receiving their login and passwords for Google Classroom. This will be a new learning forum where homework will be set. I will not be setting creative homework this term but will start putting spelling lists on there and suggestions of extra learning that could be helpful.

My Maths – Children have their MyMaths logins from last year, but not to worry if it’s gone astray! The MyMaths logins are attached to the Google Classroom information. MyMaths has already been updated with tasks and everyone has been set at least 2 pieces (if not more).

Thank you for your ongoing support during this first term back. We know it has been a difficult time for everyone and we hope our learning is bringing some sort of normality back to your lives – it definitely is for me!

Have a good rest of the week 🙂

Mrs Archer and Mr Fox.
