Reception – Great info for teaching phonics at home.

This website is a very good resource for teaching Phase 2 phonics at home. It is really important the children are secure in this phase before moving onto Phase 3. Get your child using and hearing these sounds every day, It may sound silly, but sound talk instructions to your child, for example “put on your s-o-ck-s on” or “It’s time for b-e-d”. If your child can orally blend, this aids blending for reading.

Don’t worry if you find this tricky to do with your child, reading with them is also an excellent experience in literacy.
