We have had an amazingly successful sleepover at Colchester Castle!
Activities started with a tour of the Castle, including a walk along the roof, at 3.30pm and finished at 9pm with hot chocolate and cookies after handling Norman artefacts, trying clothes, smelling the worst pongs the Castle latrines had to offer and guessing the Medieval Beasts.
In the morning the wonderfully helpful Castle staff took us on the Roman tour into the vaults beneath the castle before we crossed over to the Natural History Museum where the same staff were on hand to finish off our busy activity schedule.
The only casualties of the proceedings were the lost hours of sleep, but that didn’t stop everyone having a great morning.
We must also give an extra special vote of thanks to Mrs Whybrow and Miss Rushen who were such fantastically fun people to have with us in the Castle!
