Hay Festival

As some of you may know, this would usually be the time for the Hay Festival. The Hay festival is a literature festival that happens in Wales each year and is host to a range of authors/ writers who talk about and read extracts from their writing.

Due to the current circumstances, this year’s Hay Festival has moved online. This means that you have access to free talks from famous children’s authors. I always think there’s something to be said for hearing a text from the person who wrote it to help understand their inspirations and how they believe a book should be read. The talks are available from 8am each day.

Particular talks you might be interested in are:

  • Cressida Cowell – Author of How to Train Your Dragon – Today
  • Onjali Q Rauf – Author of The Boy at the Back of the Class – Also available today
  • Chae Strathie – Author of historical books such as ‘So you Think You’ve Got it Bad’ – Wednesday
  • Liz Pichon – Author of Tom Gates – Friday

There are plenty more from other authors you may be interested in during the week. You can find the schedule and links to the videos here:

I hope you find something to enjoy.

Take care,
