This week Year One have been learning to read and spell words containing the sound ‘ea’. The children can show you the action we do to remember that sound. Meanwhile Year Two have been learning to read and spell words containing the sound ‘gn’.
In Science we learned about animals and their offspring and did a lovely matching activity looking at adult and baby animals.
In History we looked at pictures of Tolleshunt D’Arcy a long time ago and enjoyed being history detectives looking for clues as to what life was like in D’Arcy at that time. The children were very excited to see pictures of places they recognised, but looking a bit different. The picture of D’Arcy’s old train station caused lots of excitement! The website we looked at for the pictures is https://www.merseamuseum.org.uk/mmthumbs.php?cat=520&typ=cat in case the children would like to show you.
In Maths we have been learning our number bonds, fact families and part-whole models.
Our English unit for the this week and next is traditional tales and the children have been enjoying the stories and using their comprehension skills. Next week we will be planning to write our own traditional tales.
Have a lovely weekend.
The Class 2 team.
