Maths: Odd or Even. A good way to remember if a number is odd or even is to see whether that number comes up in the 2 times table. Evens come in pairs (in 2s), so if the number can be found in the 2 times table it must be EVEN! If the number gets bigger like 36, look at the last number. Can 6 be found in the 2 times table? 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10… Yes! So, 36 must be even.

Thesaurus hunt: finding alternative words for ‘said’. In the book, the author uses a lot of alternative (different) words for said such as ‘shouted’, ‘wailed’ and ‘cried’. Could you find different words to use instead of ‘said’. You may be able to use this on your next English task below too…
English: using onomatopoeia. In the book, The very greedy bee, the author uses a lot of onomatopoeia. SLURP! EEK! BURP! Onomatopoeia is a type of word that sounds like what it is describing. So, if i dropped a plate it was break or crack into pieces and the sound it would make sounds like SMASH! or CRACK!
Can you find the onomatopoeia words in the book and try to replace them with different ones… You can make this as serious or silly as you like. You could even add new onomatopoeia to parts of the story, for example on page 3 the greedy bee says, “Find your own flower!” he shouted. “This one is MINE!”. You could add in a cry sound like, “WHAAAA! Find your own flower!” he cried or “ARRGGHHH! Find your own flower!” he screamed. Can you see i’ve also changed the word too – so not just shouted.
Art: drawing your very own bee! To end our week on a creative note, here are two step by step videos on how to draw a bee. Video one is a little tricky but it will look like a real, life close up bee! The other, links into our coding slightly and this kind of bee may be found in Minecraft! Take your pick and don’t forget to send us a photo of your amazing learning.
