In maths we are focusing on mental maths, adding and subtracting in our heads and on our fingers.
We have mainly used partitioning to solve problem:
34 + 13 =
Is the same as
30 + 4 + 10 + 3 =
Is the same as
30 + 10 + 4 + 3 =
Which is easier to solve
40 + 7 = 47
But also adjusting.
29 + 14 =
We will try and make one of the numbers into a ten number
29 + 1
We can only get the one from the 14
29 + 1 + 14 – 1 =
Which makes
30 + 13 = 43
