Morning, today I would like you to focus on 3D shapes.
I would like you to hunt for the following shapes in your house:
Cube
Cuboid
Cylinder
Sphere
Cone
Square based pyramid
Triangular prism
Parents we have covered 3D shape in class but I would like to keep the children’s memory fresh on the names and properties. Remembering a 3D shape is solid, it is something we can pick up.
Once found, the children can describe the properties. So for example, how do I know a cube is a cube? What makes it special? It has square faces. A cylinder has 2 circle faces and a rectangle face (if you cut it into its net you would see).
Whilst on a hunt, it would be great if your child could make a tally against each shape.
Have fun.
