Today it was St Nicholas day! The children learnt all about the story of the real Saint Nicholas and how he helped others by giving money to those in need. The children acted out the story of Saint Nicholas where he overheard a family talking about how the man could not afford for his daughters to get married. So Saint Nicholas generously placed gold coins in each of the girls stockings that were drying above the fireplace. The next morning they were delighted to find the kind donation that they had been given! The children made their own stockings by cutting, decorating and stapling cardboard and hung them hopefully in the classroom! We were surprised to discover that St Nicholas had paid us a visit too and had given each of the children a gold coin!
